Educational Scanning

Case Study

Filing cabinets from floor to ceiling fill wall space in the registrar’s office at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. They contain years’ worth of old student records, miscellaneous receipts and other outdated information.

Registrar Mel Severns said the university is taking advantage of 21st-century technology to take care of those archived records — a digital scanner is used to duplicate the files, which are then electronically stored in a secure off-campus location.

“We try to be good stewards of the college resources,” Severns said, “and office space is one of those resources.”

Approximately 35 filing cabinets will become obsolete when the imaging is completed.
